The II International Chess Festival “Black Pawn” and the International Anatoly Karpov Cup will be held on 02-04 November 2018 in Brest in the Athletics arena in Moskovskaya Street, 151. The general management and organization of the artistic competition is carried out by the Brest City Executive Committee, department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs, chief of the culture sector Semashko Svetlana Nikolayevna, tel. Direct management of the Creative contest is entrusted to the Festival Director Taberko Katerina and coordinator and chairman of the jury of the Artistic contest Tarasyuk Oksana, tel.: (+ 375) 29 8093514 e-mail: Tarasyuk85@inbox.ru.
The acceptance of creative works ends on October 12, 2018. All participants of the Creative contest are invited to the Festival for free when presenting a passport to the registration officer at the entrance.
Nominations of the creative contest:
- Drawing “Chess Kingdom”;
- Photo “Chess and Me”;
- Video “I’m playing chess”;
- Poetry “Chess in my life”;
- Chess carnival “Favorite figure”.
Everyone is invited to participate in the Artistic contest. For chess players at the tournaments of the “Black Pawn” Festival and Anatoly Karpov Cup the participation in the Creative contest is free of charge. All other participants in the Creative contest pay an organizational fee of 5 euro for each nomination. The participation in all nominations of the Creative contest in absentia is possible with the displaying of works on the multimedia screen during the Festival and sending the Certificate of the participant or the Winner’s Diploma by e-mail or by mail (sending to e-mail is free, additional payment for the mail is 10 euro).
The creative contest is held in three age groups:
under 7 years old;
8-11 years old;
12 years old and older.
From one author in each nomination for a Creative contest no more than two works are accepted.
1.The contest works in the “Drawing” nomination: “Chess Kingdom” can be carried out in any graphic and pictorial techniques using different materials (pencil, felt pen, watercolor, gouache, etc.) in A3 or A4 format on one of the chess topics: “Black Pawn”, “Knight’s move”, “Tournament”, “Anatoly Karpov”; “Chess Kingdom”. Acceptance of works for the Creative Competition in “Drawing” nomination is carried out till October 12, 2018 for citizens of the Republic of Belarus through a personal delivery (Educational Center “May Baby”, Brest, Shevchenko Boulevard 4, room 428; Children’s studio “Fanciers” Gvardeiskaya str., 6A) or by mail to the address: Belarus, Brest, Masherova Avenue, 30-12, to Katerina Taberko. Foreign citizens can submit their drawings on November 2nd or 3rd on the day of their arrival at the time of registration. On the back of the work the author should legibly indicate the name, surname and age of the author of the work, the title of the work, contact telephone, e-mail, as well as the name of the training organization and the name of the teacher, if any, country and city. In case of absentee participation in the nomination the works are sent to the e-mail of the organizers firstname.lastname@example.org with the topic “Drawing” before October 12th. The image is attached in JPEG format not less than 1200 pixels on the long side, the name of the work, contact telephone, e-mail, name of the educational organization and full name of the educational organization should be indicated in the text of the letter, the name of the teacher, if any, country and city.
2.Contest works in the nomination Photo “Chess and Me” are accepted on November 2 and 3, during the registration in printed form in the format of 10×15 cm for one of the chess topics: “Black Pawn”, “My Family and Chess”, “My Victories are My Pride”, “Anatoly Karpov”, “Chess and Me”. In case of absentee participation the photos are sent to the e-mail of organizers email@example.com with the topic “Photography” before October 12th. The photo is attached in JPEG format not less than 1200 pixels on the long side; the name, author’s surname and age, name of the work, contact telephone number, e-mail, country and city should be indicated in the letter text. The photos of the winners will be shown at the closing ceremony of the festival.
3.Contest works in the nomination “Video”: “I play chess” can be recorded by any means of video recording (video camera, digital camera, mobile phone, etc.) on one of the chess topics: “Black Pawn”, “About the Benefits of Chess”, “Chess humor”, “Anatoly Karpov”, “I play chess”. The duration of the video clip is up to 3 (three) minutes. The video work should be uploaded to YouTube channel or file sharing service and its quality shall not be worse than HD (for downloading), a link to the work is sent to the e-mail of organizers firstname.lastname@example.org with the topic “Video contest” no later than October 12th. In the explanatory text the author of the work should indicate the title of the video, the full name and age of the author, contact telephone number, e-mail, country and city. For teamwork, no more than three participants are allowed. Video clips of the winners will be demonstrated at the closing ceremony of the festival.
4.Poems about chess in nomination “Poetry”: “Chess in my life” are accepted by e-mail of organizers email@example.com with the theme “Poetry” before October 12th. Language of the work: Russian, Belarusian. The works are accepted only in the form of an attached file format Microsoft Word, font Times New Roman, font size 12, no hyphens, align text to the left. In the text of the letter the author should indicate the name, surname and age of the author of the work, the name of the work, contact phone number, e-mail, country and city.
5.Homemade carnival costumes in the nomination “Chess Carnival”: “Favorite figure” will be assessed at the opening ceremony of the Festival. To take part in the chess carnival, one needs to send an e-mail to the organizers firstname.lastname@example.org with the topic “Chess Carnival” before October 12th, and indicate in the letter the name, surname and age of the model, the name of the costume, contact telephone number, e-mail, country and city of the participant.
The submission of works for the Creative contest means the automatic consent of the author of the work and his official representative with the terms of the Creative contest and with the right of the organizers to process his personal data. The organizers of the Creative contest reserve the right to publish, exhibit, use whole or fragmentary in the objects of advertising, printed products and other works submitted for the Creative contest.
The contest works are assessed in accordance with the following requirements:
— artistic approach;
— originality, novelty of the idea, mastery of performance;
— the consistency of the theme.
The selection of the winners is carried out by the jury of the Creative contest: chairman of the jury is Tarasyuk Oksana Vikorovna – artist, chief of the children’s studio “Fanciers”.
Skomoroshchenko Vladimir Anatolyevich – designer, representative of the Union of Designers of Belarus in Brest region.
Redko Anna Viktorovna – artist-illustrator, member of the Union of Designers of Belarus, author of the logo for the 1000th anniversary of Brest city.
Shcherbach Evgeny Sergeevich – Master of Architecture, organizer of the city initiative “Cozy Drawing”, author of the city fountain for the 1000th anniversary of Brest.
Sokolyuk Yury Vasilyevich – professional photo artist, author of numerous photo exhibitions, teacher of the Digital Photography School, owner of the largest photo studio in Brest.
Dekh Oleg Orestovich – photographer and videographer, multiple winner of international and national photo and video contests, official photographer of the film “The Gauleiter Hunt”, the project of the First Channel, Russia, the film’s film operator on the project of A. Mitta “Miracle of Chagall”, in 2012 he entered the TOP 25 of the best videographers in Europe.
Silyuk Ruslan Nikolayevich – operator of the highest category, TV and radio company “Brest”, winner of the highest award of the 14th open television festival of the Moscow region “Bratina” in filming skills for 2010, winner of the Eighth National Television Competition “Televershina” for the best camerawork 2012.
Ivashkova Svetlana Ivanovna – chief of the “Central City Children’s A.S. Pushkin Library”.
Prokhorov Alexander Sergeevich – children’s poet, the author of the book “Everything Will Be WELL!”, Four times nominee for the national literary prize of Russia “Poet of the Year”.
The summing up the results of the Creative contest and awarding its winners with valuable prizes and diplomas will be held on November 4, 2018 at the solemn closing ceremony of the Festival at the Athletics Arena at Moskovskaya Street, 151, from 15.30 to 17.00.
During the Festival there will be an independent popular vote for the best work in the nomination “Drawing”. The author of the work, who receives the most votes, will receive a prize of audience sympathy.
